Adventure in Cenotes Casa Tortuga Tulum

Adventure in Cenotes Casa Tortuga Tulum

Inland from Tulum's beaches, the jungle hides a string of cenotes that have been developed into a single adventure park: Casa Tortuga. This six-hour tour packs four different cenotes into one outing, pairing the swimming and cave exploration typical of a cenote visit with kayaking and a zip line run through the tree canopy, then finishing with a taco bar lunch before the return to your hotel.

The tour moves through its four cenotes one at a time, each with its own character, so the day has a natural rhythm of arriving, getting in the water, and moving to the next stop. Kayaking is worked into the itinerary at one of the cenotes, letting you paddle across clear water rather than just swim through it, while another stop centers on a zip line strung through the jungle canopy above the cenotes. A guide stays with the group throughout, there to keep things running safely as you move between activities.

Once the water and zip line portions are done, the group sits down to a taco bar featuring Mexican dishes, a communal meal that caps off the day before the ride back. Snacks and water are also provided over the course of the tour, so there's no need to arrive with your own supply for the six hours on the go.

This is a tour for travelers who want more than a single cenote dip: the combination of four cenotes, kayaking, and a zip line makes it a fuller adventure day than a standard swim-only excursion, while still being marked as suitable for all physical fitness levels. Families are accounted for too, since infants are permitted as long as they sit on an adult's lap, though anyone with poor cardiovascular health should take that into consideration before signing up. It works well for visitors based in either Tulum or Playa del Carmen who want one organized outing covering multiple cenote experiences rather than piecing together separate visits.

Pickup is handled directly from hotels across the Tulum and Playa del Carmen hotel zones, and if you're staying somewhere with tricky access, like a boutique hotel, hostel, or condominium, the operator arranges a nearby meeting point instead. Pickup falls between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., with the exact time confirmed by email two days ahead of the tour date, so keep an eye on your inbox after booking. Note that some hotels with harder-to-reach access may carry an additional charge of up to 20 USD to cover the extra logistics of getting there.

Life vests are provided, along with air-conditioned transportation, all entrance fees to the cenotes, and the taco bar meal with snacks and water throughout the day. There are no lockers on site, so bring only what you're comfortable carrying with you into the water and on the zip line. A few hotels may charge an extra fee for vehicle access during pickup, which falls outside what the tour itself covers.
