ATVs Xtreme , Snorkel & Cave (Shared) from Riviera Maya
The experience
This shared-group excursion out of the Riviera Maya packs three distinct adventure activities into one day: an ATV ride through jungle trails, a zip line circuit, and a swim inside an underground cave system, all wrapped up with a regional buffet lunch. It's built for travelers who want variety over a single deep-dive activity, moving from engine noise and dirt trails to open-air zip lines to the cool quiet of a cavern within a matter of hours.
The day opens with the ATV portion, riding a Can-Am 450 4x4 along rugged jungle paths β a shared ride, meaning the vehicle is used by more than one rider at a time. From there, the group moves to the zip line circuit, which includes seven lines strung across the treetops, each offering a different vantage point over the jungle canopy. Getting into position involves climbing a wooden tower before rappelling roughly 21 meters (about 70 feet) down to the jungle floor, with expert guides walking participants through the rappelling technique step by step before they go.
After the adrenaline of the ATVs and zip lines, the pace shifts entirely for a visit to an underground cave in the Riviera Maya, where the group swims in a cenote inside the cavern β a striking contrast to the open-air activities that come before it. The day wraps with a regional buffet lunch featuring typical local dishes, along with flavored drinks and water, giving everyone a chance to refuel after a physically active few hours. All told, the combined activities run about six hours.
This tour is aimed at travelers who want an active, multi-activity day rather than a single slow-paced excursion, and the additional information notes it's suitable for all physical fitness levels β though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers, given the combination of ATV riding and rappelling involved. It's a good match for groups or solo travelers comfortable riding in a shared ATV rather than driving solo, and for anyone who wants the earth, air and water combination of jungle, zip line and cenote rolled into a single booking instead of arranging each activity separately.
Pickup and drop-off from your hotel are included, along with a bilingual guide, and the pickup time depends on your specific location. Travelers staying in downtown hotels or Airbnbs, or anywhere the pickup vehicle can't reach directly, are asked to make their way to a set meeting point instead β Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen for that area, or the Super Aki Tulum market main gate on the federal avenue for Tulum β with pickup starting around 8:00 am; anyone who hasn't provided a pickup location is asked to get in touch as soon as possible, since the service can't be guaranteed otherwise.
Come prepared with a swimsuit, towel and a change of clothes, plus comfortable clothing and shoes for the ATV and zip line portions, and use biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent given the jungle and cenote setting. Bringing cash is recommended, and it's worth noting the zip lines have a maximum weight limit of 135 kilograms (300 pounds) per person. The listed price for the shared ATV is per person rather than per vehicle, so a group of two wanting to ride together needs two tickets, and if your group has an odd number of people, one traveler will need to book a single ATV spot on their own. Not included in the tour are souvenirs, tips, photo and video services, and an optional damage insurance available for 15 USD per person.
