Tucked into the jungle outside Puerto Morelos, a trio of private cenotes offers a cooler, quieter alternative to the resort pools of the Riviera Maya. This full-day outing links three separate sinkhole formations, each with its own character, and pairs the swimming with a zipline run built right into the cenote setting, making it as much an adventure activity as a nature excursion.

The day is organized around moving between the three cenotes, so expect a rotation of dipping into cool, clear water, drying off, and moving to the next spot rather than one long soak. The zipline is worked into this same jungle terrain, giving riders a birds-eye pass over the cenote before they climb back down to swim. Along the way there is a stop for a Mayan-style snack, a nod to the region's Indigenous roots, and a tequila tasting for the adults in the group, giving the day a bit of local flavor beyond the water activities themselves.

Because the three cenotes are private, the crowds that build up at the more famous public sinkholes near Tulum and Playa del Carmen are largely avoided here, and the operator markets the small-group format specifically as a way to sidestep that congestion. Life vests are provided for the swimming portions, which helps less confident swimmers relax and enjoy the cenotes rather than treat them as a workout.

This is a strong fit for families, since the combination of swimming, a jungle zipline, and a snack break gives kids and adults different things to look forward to throughout the day. It also works for travelers who want an active outing without needing advanced skills, since the zipline and cenote entries are designed for a general audience rather than serious adventure sport enthusiasts. That said, the operator flags that it is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or who is pregnant, and asks that participants have at least a moderate level of fitness. The zipline specifically is not advised for anyone with heart conditions, a fear of heights, claustrophobia, or dizziness, or for anyone recovering from recent surgery, and there is a 270-pound weight limit on that activity.

Pack a change of clothes, a towel, closed-toe shoes, a swimsuit, sunscreen, and biodegradable insect repellent, since these are the items the operator specifically recommends bringing. Cell phone use is not permitted during the activities themselves for safety reasons, so plan to keep your phone stowed once the swimming and ziplining begin. Round-trip transportation from your hotel or an agreed meeting point is included in the price, along with entrance fees to all three cenotes, the zipline, life vest use, the Mayan snack, and the tequila tasting.

Two pickup windows are offered. The morning tour collects guests in the Cancun and Playa del Carmen areas between 8:00 and 8:30 am and in Tulum between 7:00 and 8:00 am, aiming to reach the park by 9:30 am, while the noon tour picks up in Cancun and Playa del Carmen between 12:00 and 12:30 pm and in Tulum between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm, arriving by around 1:30 pm. If your hotel isn't on the standard pickup list, a representative will contact you by email or text to arrange a nearby meeting point; travelers staying in Tulum hotels or Airbnbs are asked to meet at the Super Aki Tulum Supermarket downtown. A photo package is available for an extra cost and is not included, and locker rentals run an additional five dollars if you'd rather not carry your belongings during the swimming and zipline segments.
