Cenotes Suytun & Valladolid, Private Round Trip and Tickets

Just outside Valladolid, the Yucatan Peninsula hides two very different cenotes within a short drive of each other, and this private round-trip tour visits both in a single outing. The first is Cenote Suytun, a cave cenote famous for the stone platform that appears to float above its still water beneath a shaft of natural light; the second is an open-air cenote at Hacienda San Lorenzo, where a zip line and jumping platform turn the same limestone sinkhole into a more active stop. Transportation and entrance fees to both attractions are included, and the trip is run as a private service rather than a shared group departure.

At Suytun, visitors receive wristbands before walking the path down to the cave entrance, then descend a staircase into the cavern itself. Inside, the swimming platform sits beneath the cave's signature light beam, and there's a line for photos on the stone platform before heading into the water. This stop takes roughly an hour, giving enough time to see the cave, get in the water, and take the photograph the cenote is best known for without feeling rushed.

The second stop, at Hacienda San Lorenzo, starts with registration at the entrance before the walk toward the open cenote, where the rock formation can first be viewed from above. A staircase leads down into the cenote itself, revealing tree roots that reach all the way down to the water's surface. From there, the activities open up: swimming in the clear water, jumping from a platform roughly three meters up, and using a zip line to launch into the cenote. Like the first stop, this portion runs about an hour, so the day splits evenly between the calmer, photogenic cave cenote and the more physically active open cenote.

Because it's a private tour rather than a group tour, it suits travelers who want to set their own pace between the two cenotes, families or small groups traveling together, and anyone who wants both the classic Suytun photograph and a more active cenote experience with a zip line and jump platform in the same day. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended given the stairs and jumping involved, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers. Specialized infant seats are available for families traveling with young children.

The vehicle used for the transfer is air-conditioned, and entrance fees to both cenotes are included in the price, so there shouldn't be separate admission costs to handle on site. Tips for the guide or driver are not included and are left to the traveler's discretion. Swimwear, a towel, and water shoes are worth having on hand given the staircases and wet rock around both cenotes, and since it's a private pickup, travelers are asked to let the operator know in advance if they're traveling with suitcases so the vehicle can accommodate them.
