Horseback Riding Tour, ATV circuit, Ziplines & Cenote from Cancun
The experience
Inland from the beaches of the Riviera Maya, the jungle around Cancún hides cenotes, dirt trails, and enough canopy to string a zipline through. This tour packages several of the region's signature land adventures into one outing: ATV riding, ziplining, and a swim in a cenote, with horseback riding added in on certain tour options. It's a day built for people who want to trade sand for mud and see the jungle from ground level, tree height, and underwater all in the same visit.
The circuit kicks off with the ATV portion, where guests take the wheel and navigate jungle trails, with insurance and fees already folded into the price so there's no separate charge to worry about once you're there. From the ATVs, the group moves to the zipline circuit, gliding through the tree canopy for a change of pace and perspective before the day's heat sets in fully. Safety equipment is provided across every activity, so there's no need to arrive with your own gear beyond what you'd wear.
The adventure cools down, literally, at a cenote, one of the freshwater sinkholes the Yucatán Peninsula is known for, where swimming is built into the itinerary as a chance to rinse off the trail dust and float somewhere far calmer than the ATV track. Depending on which version of the tour is booked, a scenic horseback ride through the jungle trails rounds out the day as well, adding a slower, quieter activity alongside the higher-adrenaline stops. A meal of pork tacos is included partway through, giving the group a break to refuel between activities.
This is a tour aimed at travelers who want variety and physical activity packed into a single day rather than a single-focus excursion. Groups of friends, families with teens, and couples looking for an adrenaline-and-nature combination will find the mix of driving, ziplining, swimming, and possibly riding gives everyone something to look forward to. Because it moves across several different activity types, it stands apart from tours that focus on just one adventure sport, though the range also means participants should come ready for a fuller, more physically varied day than a single-cenote or single-zipline outing would involve.
Plan to wear closed shoes and a bathing suit, and bring a change of clothes, a towel, sunglasses, and a bandana, since the day moves between dusty trails and open water. Biodegradable sunscreen and repellent are recommended given the jungle and cenote settings. Transportation runs in an air-conditioned vehicle, and pickup depends on your hotel zone: Cancún and Playa del Carmen guests are typically collected between 8:00 and 8:30 am for the morning tour (or 12:00 to 12:30 pm for the noon tour), while Tulum zone guests are picked up between 7:00 and 8:00 am (or 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for the noon departure), arriving at the park roughly 90 minutes later in both cases. Tulum-area travelers and those in Airbnbs are asked to meet at the Super Aki supermarket downtown rather than expecting a direct hotel pickup, and if your hotel isn't on the standard list, a representative will follow up directly to confirm the exact meeting point and time.
Only adults 18 and older are permitted to drive their own ATV, and anyone 17 or younger must ride accompanied by an adult, so plan seating and driving assignments accordingly if traveling with kids. Lockers are available for a small fee if you'd rather not carry belongings through the circuit, and a photo package can be added for an extra cost if you want professional shots of the day without relying on your own camera. As with similar adventure tours in the area, it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health, and a moderate level of physical fitness is suggested given the combination of driving, ziplining, and swimming involved.
