Isla Mujeres Catamaran, Open Bar and Beach Club Tour
The experience
Cancun's turquoise channel to Isla Mujeres gets a festive treatment on this catamaran outing, which pairs a sail across the Caribbean with an open bar, guided snorkeling, and time at both a beach club and the island's town center. It's built as a full day on and off the water, with the boat itself functioning as much as a floating party as a means of transportation.
The crossing begins with music and a national open bar flowing as soon as you're aboard, giving you time to settle in and take in the coastline sliding past. Roughly midway to the island, the boat stops so the group can snorkel a coral reef in clear water, an activity that runs around twenty minutes and puts you face to face with the reef's marine life. Back on deck, the open bar continues as the catamaran completes its approach to Isla Mujeres.
Arrival brings a shift in setting: the group is welcomed at a beach club, where you can keep drinking, swim, lounge, or simply sit in the shade, with a buffet lunch served depending on which package option you've booked. After that stretch winds down, there's a solid block of free time to walk Isla Mujeres on your own terms, whether that means the quieter shoreline, the boutiques scattered through town, or just picking up a souvenir before regrouping. The day closes with a return sail to Cancun as the light turns golden, bringing the group back across the same channel you crossed that morning.
This is a match for travelers who want a lively, social day on the water rather than a quiet nature excursion; the open bar, music, and beach club stops signal a party-leaning crowd, though the guided snorkeling stop gives it a bit more substance than a pure booze cruise. It works for groups of friends and couples in particular, and while it's noted as suitable for all physical fitness levels, the alcohol-forward format and the minimum drinking age of 18 mean it leans toward an adult audience even though infants can ride along in a pram or stroller and are welcome to sit on a lap.
What's included depends on which version of the tour you book, since the operator runs several package tiers. Round-trip catamaran transport, the open bar, an English and Spanish speaking crew, and traveler's insurance are standard across the board, while hotel pick-up, buffet lunch, and beach club access are each excluded from at least one of the package options, so it's worth confirming exactly what your selected tier covers before you go. A lunch box is only part of the Full Experience option, and the Premium Full Experience skips both the buffet lunch and the beach club entirely, dropping guests directly into the center of Isla Mujeres instead.
The snorkeling stop has a few built-in restrictions worth planning around: participants need to be at least 8 years old and in good physical condition, and the activity isn't open to pregnant women or anyone over 60. It can also be cancelled if weather conditions turn unsafe. Bring swimwear and sun protection given the amount of time spent on open water and at the beach club. Tips and the dock tax are not included in the price and the dock tax is paid on-site when you arrive at the dock, and your pick-up time is confirmed the day before departure based on the service option you've chosen.
