Jungle Adventure from Cancun: Horseback, ATV, Ziplines & Cenote
The experience
Tucked into the jungle around Cancun and Puerto Morelos, this multi-activity outing packs several of the Mexican Caribbean's classic adrenaline experiences into a single day. Depending on the package selected, the lineup can include ATV riding, ziplining, a swim in a natural cenote, and horseback riding, all set against the backdrop of dense Mayan jungle rather than a groomed resort property. It's built for travelers who want variety over a single deep-dive activity, moving from one adventure to the next over the course of the visit.
The day centers on off-road exploration by ATV, tearing through jungle trails on a course designed specifically for that circuit, with insurance and fees already folded into the price. From there the pace shifts skyward on the zipline circuit, sending riders soaring above the tree canopy on a series of cables strung through the forest. If your package includes it, a horseback ride adds a slower, scenic counterpoint to the two motorized and airborne activities, letting you take in the jungle at a walking pace on a trained horse.
Cooling off comes courtesy of a cenote swim, one of the sinkhole pools the Yucatan Peninsula is known for, where the jungle canopy opens onto still, fresh water. Staff are on hand throughout to walk you through instructions for each activity and keep things running safely, so first-timers to ATVs, ziplines, or horses aren't left guessing. A meal of pork tacos is served as part of the day, giving everyone a chance to refuel between activities.
This tour suits travelers with at least moderate physical fitness who want to sample several adventure activities in one outing rather than commit a full day to just one. Groups and families traveling together will find the mix keeps everyone engaged, since not every activity demands the same intensity. It is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or who is pregnant, given the physical nature of ATV riding, ziplining, and horseback riding. There are also weight limits to keep in mind: 220 pounds for horseback riding, 300 pounds for the ATVs, and 270 pounds for the ziplines, and only travelers 18 and older may drive their own ATV, with younger riders required to ride along with an adult.
Transportation is arranged from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, with two pick-up windows to choose between. The morning departure picks up guests in the Cancun and Playa del Carmen zone between 8:00 and 8:30 am, and in the Tulum zone between 7:00 and 8:00 am, arriving at the park around 9:30 am. The midday departure picks up Cancun and Playa del Carmen guests between 12:00 and 12:30 pm and Tulum guests between 11:00 am and noon, arriving at the park by 1:30 pm. If your specific hotel isn't on the standard pick-up list, a representative will contact you directly to confirm a designated meeting point; Tulum guests without a listed hotel or staying in an Airbnb are asked to meet at the Super Aki supermarket downtown.
Safety equipment is provided for every activity, and ATV insurance is built into the cost, so there's no need to arrange coverage separately. A few costs sit outside the package: lockers run $5 USD if you want to stash your belongings, and a photo package is available for an extra fee if you'd like professional shots of the day. Note that cell phone use is not permitted during the activities themselves, so plan on capturing memories the old-fashioned way or through the optional photo add-on, and keep in mind that pick-up times can shift slightly depending on exactly where you're staying, with final confirmation sent by email or text.
