Riviera Maya Adventure: Horseback Riding, ATVs, Ziplines & Cenote
The experience
For travelers who want more than a beach day, this multi-activity outing takes you inland to the Riviera Maya's jungle for a combination of adrenaline and nature: ATV riding, ziplines, a cenote swim, and horseback riding, available in selectable package combinations. Rather than committing to a single adventure sport, you build your day around whichever activities your package includes, with all of it set in the dense vegetation and tree canopy that lies just beyond the coastal resorts.
Once you arrive at the jungle park, roughly 300 minutes are set aside for the full circuit of activities in your selected package. Riders 18 and older can drive their own ATV through the jungle trails, with safety equipment and insurance provided for the circuit, while a zipline course sends you soaring above the treetops on the same jungle grounds. A cenote swim offers a break to cool off in the shade of the forest, and for packages that include it, a horseback ride adds a slower, scenic pass through the same landscape. Two pork tacos are served as part of the day, and transportation to and from the park runs in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Because cell phone use isn't permitted during the activities for safety reasons, this is a day meant to be experienced rather than documented in real time β a deliberate trade-off for anyone weighing whether to add the optional photo package. The operator markets the combination as appealing to both adults and children, framing it as a shared family or group outing built around variety rather than a single deep-dive activity.
This tour is aimed at travelers with at least a moderate level of physical fitness and is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health, given the physical demands of ATV riding, ziplining, and horseback riding in sequence. Weight limits apply per activity β 220 pounds for horseback riding, 300 pounds for ATVs, and 270 pounds for ziplines β and only adults can pilot their own ATV, with travelers 17 and under required to ride along with an adult. What sets it apart from single-activity tours is the ability to combine several adventure sports with a cenote swim in one outing rather than booking each separately.
Pack a change of clothes, a towel, closed-toe shoes, and a swimsuit, along with sunscreen and biodegradable insect repellent; sunglasses and a bandana are also recommended for the ATV portion to handle dust and wind. A locker is available for 5 USD if you'd like to store belongings during the activities, and the optional photo package carries an additional cost beyond the base price. If your hotel changes to a different pickup zone than originally booked, note that the reservation needs to be edited through the booking engine to reflect the new zone and cost, and the operator advises contacting customer care directly if anyone offers you a pre-travel "upgrade" outside official channels.
Pickup is arranged at your hotel, and if your accommodation isn't on the standard list, you're asked to provide the details so a convenient meeting point and time can be set. Two tour schedules are offered: a morning departure with pickups in the CancΓΊn and Playa del Carmen zones between 8:00 and 8:30 am and in the Tulum zone between 7:00 and 8:00 am, or a midday departure with pickups in CancΓΊn and Playa del Carmen between 12:00 and 12:30 pm and in Tulum between 11:00 am and noon. Arrival at the park follows roughly 1.5 hours after pickup, and your exact pickup time is confirmed by email or text message ahead of the tour. Travelers staying in Tulum hotels or Airbnb accommodations meet instead at the Super Aki Tulum Supermarket downtown.
