Snorkeling Adventure at Isla Mujeres Includes Lunch and Open Bar

3.7 37 verified reviews

A day trip to Isla Mujeres from Cancun works best by boat, and this outing puts you aboard a catamaran for the crossing over the Caribbean Sea, with music and drinks part of the package from the moment you leave the marina. It combines snorkeling, beach time, and a stop in the island's town center into a single full day rather than isolating any one activity, so travelers who want a taste of several things at once tend to get the most out of it.

Once the boat is underway, the itinerary centers on the water: you'll snorkel over one of the Caribbean's reefs near Isla Mujeres, and conditions permitting, get a look at part of the underwater museum's sculptures submerged just offshore. Snorkel gear and a lifejacket are provided, so there's no need to arrange your own equipment beforehand. Onboard, an open national bar keeps drinks flowing alongside water and soda, and bilingual, certified guides are on hand throughout the sailing and snorkel portions.

After the reef, the boat brings you to the operator's beach club, where a buffet lunch is served and you're free to stretch out on the sand for a while before moving on. From there the group heads into downtown Isla Mujeres, giving everyone a chance to walk around, browse handicrafts and beach accessories, and get a sense of the island beyond the beach. The day wraps up back near the marina with a spinnaker sail, weather depending, that opens up a wide view over the Cancun hotel zone as you return.

This is a good match for travelers who want an easygoing, sociable day on the water rather than a purely technical dive or snorkel excursion — the mix of open bar, buffet, beach club access, and town time makes it feel more like a floating party with a snorkel stop than a dedicated wildlife tour. It suits couples, friend groups, and most families, though the operator notes it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnant travelers, and snorkeling itself is limited to guests between 9 and 60 years old.

Because this is a beach and boat day, pack swimwear, a change of clothes, sunscreen, and anything else you'd want on a day largely spent outdoors on the water and sand. Gratuities and the Isla Mujeres dock fee are not included in the price, so budget for those separately. Public transportation options run near the pickup areas if you need to make your own way there.

Pickup logistics depend on where you're staying: hotels not on the standard pickup list are instead given a designated meeting point, communicated after booking, so it helps to provide your exact location so the closest option can be arranged. The single daily schedule runs roughly 8:30 to 9:30 am for Cancun hotels and 7:00 to 8:00 am for Riviera Maya hotels, while travelers based in Tulum meet at the Super AKI Tulum location at 7:00 am. Exact timing is confirmed by email or text ahead of the tour, and infant seats are available on request for families traveling with young children.
