Tulum Cenote DOS OJOS Unforgettable Scuba Dive Tour

5.0 6 verified reviews

Cenote Dos Ojos is one of the longest underwater cave systems on the planet, and this scuba dive tour takes you straight into it. Rather than a single dip, this is a guided cavern diving trip through two distinct lines within the Dos Ojos system, led by professionals who know the cave's geology from years of working in it. The tour runs about five hours door to door, most of it spent in and around the cenote itself.

The day starts with pickup around 8:30 in the morning, followed by a short drive of roughly 20 to 30 minutes to Parque Dos Ojos. Before anyone gets in the water, the team runs a full safety briefing, covering equipment, hand signals, and what to expect underground. The guides leading the dives are dive instructors, certified cave divers, and biologists, so the briefing tends to go beyond basic safety and into how the cave actually formed and what lives in it.

The first dive follows the Barbie Line, a route that stays shallow, no deeper than about 8 meters, winding past rock formations and through water so clear it barely feels like diving at all. Once you resurface, there's a break on land with seasonal fruit, snacks, and water before heading back down for the second dive. That second route, the Bat Cave Line, ends somewhere more dramatic: a hidden air chamber inside the cave where stalactites hang overhead and a resident colony of bats roosts in the ceiling. Each dive runs around 45 minutes, and together with the surface interval and travel time, the full underground portion takes about four hours.

This is built for certified divers at both the beginner and advanced level, which makes it accessible to people who've only logged a handful of dives as well as more experienced cave enthusiasts. Because it's a cavern dive with clear cavern lines rather than a deep technical cave penetration, it suits divers who want the visual payoff of an underwater cave system without needing advanced cave certification. It's not a fit for anyone with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or who is pregnant, but otherwise the operator notes it works for all physical fitness levels.

All the gear is handled for you: full scuba equipment, a torch light for navigating the darker sections, and a 5mm wetsuit to handle the cenote's cooler freshwater. Private transportation is included, and so is the entrance fee to Cenote Dos Ojos, along with the fruit and snacks provided between dives. The one notable exclusion is professional camera equipment, which carries an extra fee if you want to bring it along to document the dive.

Pickup logistics are specific to this tour: it only covers Tulum Town, including La Veleta and Region 15, and does not extend to the beach zone or Parque del Jaguar. If you're staying outside that pickup area, you'll need to make other arrangements to reach the meeting point. The operator's team reaches out the day before the dive to confirm the exact pickup place and time, so it's worth keeping communication open in the 24 hours leading up to your tour. Public transportation is also available nearby if that ends up being a more convenient option, and infants or small children in your party can travel by pram or stroller for the parts of the day spent above ground.
