Full-dayTurtle Adventure: ATV, Zipline, Cenote & Turtle Swim
L'expérience
Inland from Tulum's beaches, a stretch of jungle and cave systems sets the stage for a full day that stacks several adventure activities into a single outing: driving your own ATV, ziplining above the tree canopy, swimming in a cenote, and snorkeling with wild sea turtles at Akumal Bay. It's built for travelers who want variety over a single-activity focus, moving from motorized off-roading to airborne cable lines to calm cave water to open-water wildlife viewing over the course of the day.
The day opens with the ATV portion, where each guest takes the wheel of their own vehicle and follows jungle trails that turn muddy and uneven as the ride goes on — a hands-on, engine-powered way to cover ground through the forest before the pace shifts. From there, the group moves to a zipline circuit strung above the canopy, a string of lines meant to deliver a controlled adrenaline rush rather than a technical climbing challenge.
With the adrenaline activities behind them, guests cool down with a swim inside a cave cenote, the kind of enclosed, spring-fed pool that Tulum's underground limestone network is known for, offering a quieter contrast to the ATV and zipline stretch. The day then heads toward Akumal Bay, where wild sea turtles feed over seagrass beds close to shore; certified guides lead small groups into the water to snorkel alongside them, watching the turtles graze in their natural setting rather than a controlled tank environment. A lunch built around regional flavors rounds out the day before the return trip.
This tour is aimed at travelers with an appetite for physical variety in one outing — comfortable driving an ATV, doing a zipline run, and swimming twice in different settings, all in the same day. It's suitable for all physical fitness levels according to the operator, but it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnant travelers, given the combination of off-road driving and the zipline. The small-group, guide-led format at Akumal Bay sets it apart from tours that focus on just one of these activities, folding wildlife snorkeling into a broader adventure day rather than treating it as the sole event.
Guests should bring a towel, a bathing suit, an extra t-shirt, comfortable shoes plus a pair of flip flops, and biodegradable mosquito repellent, given the amount of time spent in and around water and jungle terrain. Roundtrip transport is included, with pickup around 7:30–8:00 am from Playa del Carmen and 8:45 am from Tulum; the operator notes there's no hotel pickup within Tulum itself, so guests staying there should check the nearest designated meeting point, which may be a parking area like Super Aki or Chedraui. Staff can be identified by green shirts and caps, and the pickup van is white or gray with no logo. The operator flags that delays from traffic, weather, or other guests can happen and asks for patience around timing.
Bottled water, lunch, a bilingual local guide, all activity equipment, and the roundtrip transfer are included in the price. Alcoholic beverages and local tax are not included, and photos are available as a separate optional add-on for an extra fee. As with the operator's other tours, infants must sit on an adult's lap throughout the day, which is worth weighing given the ATV and zipline components of this particular itinerary.
