Tour Chichen Itza 2 Cenotes Suytun and Ik-kil

4.8 1,699 avis vérifiés

Two cenotes, one of the world's most recognized ruins, and a colonial town, all in a single day trip: that's the shape of this tour from the Riviera Maya into the heart of Yucatan. Traveling by air-conditioned bus with a bilingual guide, the day is built to cover a lot of ground without asking you to plan any of the logistics yourself, from snacks on board to admission fees at each stop.

The day's centerpiece is Chichen Itza, where a guide walks you through the archaeological zone and points out the Temple of Kukulkan, also called El Castillo, along with El Caracol, the structure believed to have served as a Mayan observatory. After the guided portion, you're given free time to wander the site on your own, photograph the monuments, and take in the surroundings at whatever pace you like. An umbrella is provided for shade while you're on the grounds.

From the ruins, the route continues to Cenote Suytun, known for the stone platform that extends out over the water and the shaft of light that, depending on timing, falls dramatically across the pool. You'll have an hour here to swim and photograph the setting. The bus then carries on to Cenote Ik-Kil, a cenote enclosed by tall rock walls draped in vegetation with a small waterfall feeding into the water below, considered a sacred site by the ancient Maya. Another hour is set aside here, with a life jacket included for your swim. Along the way, a sandwich and drinks, water, soft drinks, or beer, are served on board to keep everyone fueled between stops.

The tour closes in Valladolid, a colonial city where you can walk through the historic streets, browse shops, and stop into a restaurant before the drive back. Covering three very different environments, ancient ruins, two distinct cenotes, and a colonial town center, in one outing, this tour suits travelers who want breadth over a slower, single-site deep dive, and its bus format with a bilingual guide makes it an easy option for solo travelers, couples, or families who'd rather not coordinate multiple bookings. It's listed as suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, and infants can ride in a stroller or on an adult's lap, with service animals allowed.

What's included covers most of what you'll need for the day: Chichen Itza admission and taxes, round-trip transport in an air-conditioned vehicle, the sunshade umbrella at the archaeological site, entry and swim time at both Suytun and Ik-Kil cenotes, the sandwich and drinks served on the bus, the bilingual guide, and the stop in Valladolid.

A few things fall outside the package worth knowing before you go: drinks are not included with the lunch buffet, and lockers and towels at the cenotes are not provided, so pack a towel, a swimsuit, and a dry bag if you have one. The shade umbrellas are provided at no charge, but losing or damaging one carries a 200 MXN replacement fee. Pickup time and meeting point are confirmed after booking, so keep an eye on your confirmation details ahead of the tour date.
